Mission

The mission of Spring River Counseling, LLC is to provide affordable access to mental health care in a bullshit free, compassionate, safe space where clients from all walks of life can express their true selves free from judgments while fostering positive change. 

Background story: The Spring River is 57 miles in length and flows through Missouri and Arkansas. Over 9.78 million US gallons of fresh spring water flows out of the spring and forms the Spring River resulting in a crisp 58 degree Fahrenheit temperature year round. The Spring River symbolizes many human related character traits, such as resistance, perseverance, endurance, strength, persistence, and determination. A lot of what I do here at Spring River Counseling, LLC is like the Spring River, especially in regard to persistence. Persistence as defined by the Webster Dictionary is “the quality of continuing to work on something, even when it’s challenging or difficult”. Isn’t that life in a nutshell? We persist every single day. Don’t get me wrong, life is hard, and therapy won’t always be rainbows 🌈 and butterflies 🦋, but I know what you’re capable of and want to help you get there. 

My ultimate goal is to not see you one day  (And no, not because I don’t think you’re an amazing person), but because if I don’t see you anymore it means you’re living your life, on your own terms and don’t need my help, which is the entire reason I do what I do. Now with that being said, I don’t mind updates about how you’re doing. I L❤️VE  hearing from my former clients. 

Why the Spring River you ask? Glad, you asked 😁 I chose the Spring River because of its ability to persevere through and adapt to hardships in life. Having experienced and persevered through hardships myself, I know how difficult life can be, but I also know you don’t have to surrender to life’s ‘rapids’ to get through unscathed. Secondly, I chose the Spring River to honor my Mother and Step-Father, Son-yong and Don Whisler both of whom were a driving force behind the creation of Spring River Counseling, LLC and the reason I do what I do.
